Christian Hate
I just got done looking at the web site for Westboro Baptist Church, www.godhatesfags.com, and I can’t believe the hatred that is being poured out. It kill’s me to see Christians missing the message completely. Jesus came down to earth to give us salvation. You didn’t see him picketing the funerals of homosexuals. Jesus would love the person regardless of the sin. When did we as the people of God get so proud that we started becoming the judges of the earth? When did we loose sight of the teachings of Christ? We were called to “Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” – John 15:12-13.
Where is the love? Where is the compassion? Where are the Christians that are following the teaching of Jesus? Why are we twisting scripture? Where is the hate for others coming from?
It’s no wonder that people don’t want to go to church.
Churches like Westboro are just making it harder for us to spread to story of Christ to the un-reached. I wish that there were a way to sit people like Fred Philps and his congregation down and smack them until the hate is gone. Unfortunately, that is not an option. Instead, we have to continue to live out the love that God gave to us. We have to shine his light even in the darkest place. We don’t want to be the reason that someone doesn’t except Christ into their life.

Worship & #’s
Yesterdays worship blew me away. I think that our congregation is really grasping what we’re trying to do at church. Having a group of people that are lifting up one voice to our God is an awesome thing to witness. It doesn’t even matter how many people are in the room. We had 126 people in our night service yesterday, and it was just as powerful as being at a passion conference. Numbers have no impact on worship. It’s all about the hearts of the people in the room. When we open up our hearts and swallow our pride, we can truly be humbled by God’s presence.
No Country for Old Actors
I went to see “No Country for Old Men” last night and loved it….. except the last 15 minutes. I’m not normally a stickler for a bowtie ending, but this ending just left me sitting there through the credits thinking ” that can’t be the end!” Everything else about the movie I loved. The cast was great, especially Javier Bardem. Woody Harrelson also gave a great performance. The camera work was also stunning. All in all, I give the movie 4 out of 5 stars.
Wonderful Worship
I just thought I’d throw this up as an example of great worship. This band and this worship leader are clearly showing their affection for God. I feel like God is truly anointing this church.
Media in church
Would Jesus use media in church? Well hells yes. Jesus used stories and parables to help get his point across. We use videos to do the same thing today. Our church has a great video guy. I feel like he’s work helps the congregation follow where our pastor is taking us. It can also be used to paint a clearer picture of biblical text. With a media driven society, it would be wrong for the church not to use media to further Gods kingdom.
