Unhealthy Me
I’m done with being unhealthy. I’ve always eaten bad food, but I’m starting to realize that I’m to old to be eating like it’s going out of style.
I come from a family that lives on fried foods. If there’s no grease, then it’s no good.
My wife doesn’t cook, so I still eat the way I did in college. I eat Romen Noodles as a meal 5 to 9 times a week. Also, each time I eat the Romen, I put two packets in the water and add two slices of cheese to them after there soft. I’m unhealthy.
Luckily, I have good metabolism. But even my metabolism can’t save my heart from exploding one day.
So now I’m going to try and eat healthier. I’ve already given up cokes. Now I just need to find a replacement for my Romen addiction.
Any suggestions?
Age in Ministry
I turned 26 yesterday and I’m still referred to as “the kid” on staff at my church. I became the music director at our church when I was 23. I was the second youngest person on our music team at the time. It doesn’t help that most of my musicians are professional players. Some of them have been in music longer than I’ve been alive. I have sometimes felt like I’m in over my head. How do you give direction to someone who can play circles around you? But then I remember that God has put me in this place for a reason. I’m here for his glory and not my own. It’s not unlike God to take someone who is not the best at what they do and use them in an extraordinary way. David was a kid when he killed Goliath. Maybe my giant is the image I have of myself and my talents?
Is your church cool?
My small group has been watching the Andy Stanly series “Go Fish” and it’s been sparking some great discussion. It’s making us ask the question “Are you proud of your church?’ or more specifically, “Would you be too embarrassed to invite your friends to your church?” I think that I used to be afraid to invite my friends to church because I thought it would be confusing for them. They wouldn’t understand why we were singing old songs with a piano and organ. They wouldn’t understand why everybody was so dressed up. They wouldn’t understand why I go there. I’m now at a church that I would invite everyone to. I feel like my church doesn’t make it weird for a new person. We try and make it as simple as possible. You don’t have to dress up. There are cool environments for kids and youth. The music is comparable to what people listen to on their own. Most important, the message is relevant to people today.
Church should be a place that we want to go to.
